HIV Testing Services (It's free!)

Down East AIDS Network provides free, anonymous HIV testing using the Oraquick HIV-1/2 Rapid Antibody Test. The test is performed using an oral swab of the upper and lower gum lines, and results are available in twenty (20) minutes. During that time, our trained HIV prevention specialist discusses modes of transmission and offers client-specific risk reduction counseling in an anonymous and relaxed setting.

HIV testing is available on a walk-in basis at our Ellsworth and Machias offices depending on availability of trained staff. Appointments are recommended.

HIV testing at the Calais location is offered by DEAN most, but not all, Mondays.This service is provided through arrangement with Downeast Health Services, an independent agency. Appointments are strongly recommended.

Free condoms are available at our DEAN offices. DEAN also provides needle exchange services for enrolled clients at its Ellsworth office during regular business hours. Call 207-667-3506 for more information.
